Innovation sounds great, but when you are working with Vendors, Regulators, and Internal partners, things can start off slow and only get slower. When our Insurance client was leaving revenue on the table because there was no way to see underlying calculations, much less change the calculations that were happening in a Vendor System something had to give.
The effort went from what seemed like it should be a simple fix, to a slow back and forth between IT, Business Executives, the Vendor, Business SMEs, and Finance.
Digital Product Partners was brought in to analyse and recommend a faster process to capture revenue. We started a discovery at the Value Stream level and looked at Data Impacts and then we conducted a gap analysis.
The leadership team was astounded to find out how their management structure was encouraging delays and games of "telephone." These resulted not only in bottle necks across the client value streams but worse, when they did delivery they were widening the gaps, not closing them.
Our recommendation? Assemble an empowered team across the value stream that included sales, support, training, UX AND technology. Strike vendor agreements that included time for the vendor to attend weekly meetings.
Although it took some agreements on accountability with leadership, this flagship team is now delivering the right solutions to customer is less than half of the time.
